Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior political figure said the attack left him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
